KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has given its approval to Avicennia Capital Sdn Bhd to appoint Alexander Ankel as chief executive officer (CEO).
In a statement here Monday, Avicennia Capital, Khazanah Nasional Bhd's insurance holding company, said last week BNM had approved the appointment of six directors for the company.
BNM also approved Ankel appointment as executive director of the company, it said.
Prior to his appointment, Ankel was regional CEO of Allianz Asia-Pacific.
He has over 25 years experience in life and general insurace in Asia and Europe.
Avicennia Capital said one of Ankel's tasks was to expand the firm's presence in Asean, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Turkey.
The members of the board of directors approved were Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda, Joseph Dominic Silva, Datuk Dr Syed Muhamad Syed Abdul Kadir, Pushpanathan Kanagarayar and Mustafa Kemal Olgac.
